How do we learn to speak? This distinguished (and very interesting!) panel discusses how striking parallels between bird and human brains are providing new insights into how we acquire language and the links between hearing and movement. The panel features:

• Erich Jarvis, Duke University neurobiologist and MacArthur "Genius" Fellow (PBS NOVA);
• Irene Pepperberg, scientist and noted bird researcher;
• Jonathan Rosen, author of The Life of the Skies;
• David Rothenberg, professor of philosophy and music at New Jersey Institute of Technology; and
• Ofer Tchernichovski, Head of the Laboratory of Animal Behavior at CUNY.
