How to Use Cogito

Cogito.org offers many kinds of information. To help you find things, the site has two basic organizational tools:

    • The Navigation bar displays the major types of content: Interviews, News & Views, Sites & Tools, Programs, and Calendar, and

    • The Channels allow you to filter the site's content according to subject area, such as Biology or Physics. If you don't want to restrict your content, just leave the channel set to All.

Channels

The channels filter the site content. If you choose the Biology channel, you will see only Interviews, News & Views, Sites & Tools, and Programs related to biology. Content relevant to more than one channel appears in each of those channels.

    • To select or change a channel, use the Current Channel drop-down box. The channel you have selected will appear in the Current Channel box.

    • Search results are also filtered by channel setting. If you're having trouble finding something, set the channel to "All."

    • Important: The channel setting "stays on" as you move through the site (until you change it). So if you select the Physics channel while you are in Sites & Tools, you will continue to filter by Physics if you go to another area (e.g., News & Views).
